Cheers of victory, sheer excitement and passion for winning filled the entire Olivarez College Gymnasium on October 14, 2019 as Olivarians gathered to take part in the opening ceremony of College Intramurals 2019.
Bearing the theme, “Strengthening Unity within Olivarian Community through Sports”, the event opened with the crowd all hyped in the entrance of the intramural banners and the presentation of athletes.
Dr. Elmer B. De Leon, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, gave his welcome remarks while Dr. Eric L. Olivarez, Vice President for Academics and Services rendered his inspirational message. This was followed by the lighting of torch and the declaration of the intramurals open. The Olivarez College Performing Arts brought the house down with their powerful and amazing dance moves in their intermission number.
The candidates for Mr. and Ms. Intramurals 2019 took the center court to showcase their physique and poise. Muse and Escort from the Nursing Department emerged as winners.
The games were in full swing to give Olivarian athletes a chance to show off their athletic prowess in basketball, volleyball, table tennis, swimming and chess respectively.
Indeed, the Intramurals 2019 aroused the spirit of unity and it is an opportunity for Olivarian athletes to exercise good character because it is also through sports that a true Olivarian can ignite the core values “I CARE”.
