October Tri-fest

Olivarez College celebrated three occasions in one celebration last October 5, 2017. A celebration was dubbed “A Glimpse of a Zenith World Trilogy: Tribute… Triumph… Tribal.”

The celebration started with a thanksgiving mass with Bishop Ernesto Salgado as the mass presider. In the homily, Bishop Salgado said that the Eucharistic celebration was not only to celebrate Teachers’ Day but also to celebrate teaching as a vocation. He likewise blessed the birthday celebrator, Dr. Eric L. Olivarez, the Vice President for Academics and Services of the college.

The first part of the celebration was the tribute to World Teachers and Staff. Outstanding teachers and non-teaching staff were conferred with their excellent performance in various areas including teaching, school and office development, student development, research excellence and community extension.

The second part showcased the cultures of some United Nations member countries. It opened with pomp and pageantry participated by IBED, DPRO and College Department. Colorful costumes, ethnic music, synchronized dance movements and elegant parade of muses and escorts in their national costumes highlighted the United Nations celebration. Winners in different competitions were the following: (Tribal Presentation) Champion Education (South Sudan), 1st Runner-Up Liberal Arts (Kenya) and 2nd Runner –Up DPRO (Ecuador); (Mr. and Miss United Nations) HRM (Mauritius), Liberal Arts (Kenya) and Education (South Sudan, 1st and 2nd Runner –Ups respectively.

The third part brought the house down when the group of administrators, teachers, non-teaching staff and students presented a signature dance number of Dr. Eric L. Olivarez. The celebration ended with the ceremonial blowing of the birthday candles.
